The Boat Race (April 4)

This doesn’t take place in Cambridge but it’s still a highlight of the April Calendar, where Cambridge and Oxford compete on the Thames, featuring men’s and women’s crews.

Cambridge Literary Festival – Spring Festival (22–26 April)

Taking place across various venues in central Cambridge, this much-loved festival brings together leading authors, thinkers, and creatives for a vibrant programme of talks and discussions. This year speakers include Mary Berry, Martin Bond -local Cambridge photographer and Zadie Smith.

Cambridge Card Show – 4 April 2026

Held at Cambridge Regional College, this lively event features over 75 vendor tables showcasing sports cards, trading card games (including Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering), and a wide range of collectibles. There’s also space for trading and casual play, making it a great day out for enthusiasts.

The Cambridge Piano Festival 7-11th April 2026

Set against the stunning backdrop of Cambridge, this inspiring festival celebrates music, creativity, and connection. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy world-class performances in an intimate and historic setting.

What’s on in Cambridge this April – Easter Trails & Outdoor Fun

Anglesey Abbey – National Trust

Located just outside Cambridge you can visit the historic House and beautiful gardens for pretty Easter views. There’s also an adventure trail for Children set in the woods of the

Abbey along with a fantastic giant treehouse perfect for the little ones to explore.

Wimpole Hall Farm – National Trust

 

Visit Wimpole Hall Farm in Cambridgeshire and experience the countryside in all its glory. Explore the farm, take a stroll around the grounds, and discover why this National Trust property has been part of Britain’s landscape for centuries. Experience nature at its finest and don’t forget to stop by the tearoom for a treat after your adventure. Depending on the time of year you can also see the newborn spring lambs.

Wandlebury Easter Egg Hunt 28-12 April 2026

Collect your Easter Egg Hunt sheet from the foyer (under the clocktower).  Find all 10 eggs hidden within The Ring.  Note which colour they are on your sheet.  Post your sheet back in the foyer for your chance to win a prize.

What’s on in Cambridge this April – Theatre & Live Performances This Easter

Cambridge Corn Exchange

Highlights over the Easter period is live theatre and touring productions.

  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1–4 April) – a family-friendly musical perfect if you’re visiting with children.
  • Tom Gates Epic Show (7 April.
  • The Rocky Horror Show (27 April) – a hugely popular stage production with a lively atmosphere
  • Man in the Mirror (18 April). A Michael Jackson tribute act.

 

Cambridge Arts Theatre

One of Cambridge’s best-loved theatres, right in the city centre.

  • Spitfire Girls (7-11 April). As we hear their story, we’re transported back to a time when female pioneers defied expectations and soared through the skies.
  • Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift (21–25 April) – a world premiere stage adaptation of the famous TV series.

This is exactly the kind of event that makes planning a citybreak in Cambridge worthwhile, something unique you won’t find elsewhere.

For something completely different:

This is a real hidden gem, small, unusual, and incredibly memorable.

Cambridge Junction

A more contemporary venue offering:

  • Family-friendly shows.
  • Interactive performances.
  • Live music during the Easter holidays.

The Junction hosts a variety of events that are perfect if you want something a bit more modern and relaxed. Highlights include The Fiver, a longstanding Cambridge Junction event offering emerging bands the opportunity to play on the J1 stage and take part in Fiver Fest.

EMF ( April 3) dance band are also playing, as well as Wes Peden – Rollercoaster (April 26) features cutting-edge juggling in an inflatable environment. Soothe: Dance & Brain Chemistry (April 1) explores body systems through dance.

Introduction to Printmaking Days – Is Printmaking for you? Come and find out at our friendly, hands-on, introductory workshop day for people who have no experience, but would like to try both Intaglio and Relief printmaking techniques in one session.

Talking Plants: A live AI experiment at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, exploring how technology helps us connect with plants

Also taking place for children is an Easter Plants Puzzle Trail. Simply pick up a free self-led Easter Plants Puzzle trail from the Ticket Offices on your way into the Garden and start investigating.

There’s plenty going on at the Cambridge Museums too from the Fitzwilliam Musuem Made in Egypt Exhibition and the Museum of Cambridge Making Angelina Exhibition.
