What’s on in Cambridge this November

November 2025 in Cambridge and the surrounding area is full of exciting things to see and do. From Bonfire Night and festive celebrations to world-class concerts, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or live locally, here are some of the month’s top highlights to enjoy.

Seasonal & Family Events

Fireworks Night at Midsummer Common: On November 1, this classic Cambridge tradition lights up the sky from 6pm, with the main fireworks at 7pm. Expect food trucks, music, and dazzling performances, including the return of Autin Dance Theatre’s impressive giant puppet.​

Christmas in Cambridge Winter Fair: Kicking off November 13 at Parker’s Piece (and running through the festive season), this expansive winter wonderland features an open-air ice rink, Christmas market, Big Wheel, Christmas Tree Maze, Alpine Lodge, and more. Entry is free, with separate activities like skating priced individually.​

Christmas Lights Switch-On: The city’s Christmas lights are ceremonially switched on in Market Square on Sunday 16th November,  marking the official start of the season. Look for live performances and a bustling, joyful atmosphere.​

Festivals & Exhibitions

  • Cambridge Jazz Festival (November 9–23): Jazz takes over the city with more than 40 events, highlighting global stars, living legends, and breakthrough female headliners. Orphy Robinson MBE is this year’s Artist-in-Residence, and there’s a whole week of workshops and community gigs.​
  • Cambridge Music Festival (to November 29): Enjoy concerts from renowned performers at various venues, wrapping up the autumn season.​
  • Made in Ancient Egypt Exhibition: At the Fitzwilliam Museum, discover extraordinary craftsmanship from ancient Egypt until April 2026.​
  • Cambridge Literary Festival – Winter Edition: Celebrate contemporary writing, ideas, and debate, with talks and book signings at iconic venues across the city.​
